There are various methods and techniques to decorate ceramic art. The most common method is drawing a picture onto the surface of a piece. However, MATSUI uses Neriage, or marbling, which is a unique technique involving kneading and incorporating various pigmented clays with high temperature tolerances into white clay, and then cutting and layering to compose a design. One notable feature of this technique is that the marbling design is revealed on both the outer and inner surface of the ceramic pieces.
