Odawara is the first castle town after leaving Edo. Odawara Castle, which looks like the outer ring of Hakone, developed as a base for Mr. Gohojo during the Warring States period. Perhaps it took over the castle, it was a large post station and was crowded with many guests ahead of crossing Hakone.
