This one-of-a-kind guinomi sake cup is by Kusuo Baba, the second-generation Shin-emon. A subdued blue-green glaze with a yellowish tint gives it a substantial presence.

Celadon is one of the most familiar colors in Japan. Among its varieties, the green celadon exported from the Longquan kilns in China's Zhejiang Province to the Muromachi shogunate, with the proceeds used to fund the construction of Tenryu-ji Temple, is known as Tenryuji celadon. It possesses an inner beauty that resonates with Japanese wabi-sabi. The renowned "Tobi Seiji" vase, a representative example passed down in Japan, is designated a National Treasure. With a deep attachment to celadon, the second-generation Shin-emon developed his own Tenryuji celadon, refining the depth of its green and pursuing a clear luster and rich color. The cleanly rising profile harmonizes with the soft celadon hue, creating an air of quiet refinement.

Suitable for sake as well as tea or cold tea, this cup has the luminous quality characteristic of celadon, which brings out the color of the drink and adds a refreshing touch to the table.
