This vase reproduces the surface pattern of a pearl that can only be seen under a high-powered microscope: after squeezing a single plate, a round, shiny hammer is used to hammer out the "pearl pattern", a contour line pattern on the surface of a real pearl. By removing the luster with "Kongo sand," which is made of granulated pomegranate stone, the white color of the vase was made to stand out. The entire vase is like a single large pearl, a work of delicacy yet with a sense of presence.
